Palmiet Pumped Storage Scheme is a hydro power station which has a nominal generating capacity of 400 MW produced from two 200 MW Francis type vertical turbine generator sets. The power station is situated close to the town of Grabouw in the Western Cape. Its two 200 MW units were commissioned in 1988. Lesedi was involved with the Palmiet Blowdown Air Compressor Replacement project which entailed the replacement of four 35 bar reciprocating air compressors.
The project scope includes the design, manufacture, factory acceptance testing, supply, delivery, installation and commissioning of four air compressors and associated equipment such as controls, piping, valves, fittings and other accessories to enable satisfactory operation of the blowdown air system.
